Sports or Supermodels?

My friend Lianne recently informed me that 95% of British men between 21 and 35 would rather watch the Wоrld Cυp than have sex with the fantasy woman of their dreams.

Here is my response:

If this is a reliable statistic, and if statistics in general are reliable then I'd say this makes sense. Sports are the only area of human endeavour where real moral selfishness is allowed, with no trace of altruistic tripe to sacrifice it into meaninglessness. Think about it. People love to see a hero, someone to take the ball from one end of the field to the other all alone and score, like Pele.

In sports, everybody follows the rules to the letter, or they're out. Nobody expects you to sacrifice your breakaway to the other side, in order to be "fair".

Fans shout we're number one with absolutely no guilt. In fact, they do it with moral rectitude. And why not?

Real life should be like that. But unfortunately, altruism has spoiled almost everything.

It doesn't surprise me then that men respond with enthusiasm to the chance to experience true morality in action. It's just too bad that they allow it to be restricted to the playing field. Individual accomplishment should be revered in real life too.

Incidentally, I believe it's the same morality that men respond to in female beauty. Nothing makes men behave nor inspires them morally more than love of a beautiful woman. It has inspired men to fight wars, and to stop fighting them.

It's interesting that British men seem to have preferred sports to supermodels, but at least they are doing it for the right reason!

Remember though, that this statistc could also mean that men do not generally want just one dream date with their fantasy lover but might actually prefer to find the woman of their dreams to fall in love with.

But that wasn't an option given in the poll. That's the problem with statistics. You can "prove" anything with them.

Hey, there's my next web page!
