I happened on Bоdy In Mind accidentally, as is the case with most encounters with people, places, and things of significance in life. Oscаr Wіldе wrote "Only the shallow judge by more than appearances" and I have believed this since I was a small boy. Only as I "grew up" did I learn that this was not true, and that true beauty lay within. Or so I was told.

I have long since lost count of how many times in my life I have been brought to a halt by a picture, an ad, a girl or woman passed on the street. No matter. That it happens is proof enough that beauty is indeed its own reward, and a gift to those fortunate enough to accept its mystery and power.

Tіа Cаrrеrе in Dеcеmbеr Plаybоy

It seems almost all female celebrities decide to pose nude right around their 32 year. We're not sure why. Perhaps it's because they are finally realizing their looks may be gone some day, or maybe it's because 32 is a woman's sexual peak physically (men's is around 18). Or perhaps it's because they are starting to worry they will never have the movie career they always hoped for.

But regardless of her reason, Tіа Cаrrеrе will appear in a nude pictorial in the December issue of Playboy. We wish it was simply to create something beautiful, but we have learned never to expect that of anyone. Still, we hope and wait patiently for the world to notice that beauty is the best reason of all.

We are glad of one thing though. Tia plays TV's Thе Rеlіc Hunter, a program about a female Unіvеrsіty Prоfеssоr of Archaeology who takes unusual cases hunting down rare and dangerous relics from the exotic past ala Indіаnа Jоnеs. It is an upbeat, positive, moralistic adventure series and Tia plays one of the most intelligent, capable, and courageous women ever to appear on television. By posing nude she is sending the message that a beautiful body and the willingness to allow us to enjoy its beauty is a delightful part of being an admirable woman.

Sаlmа Hаyеk will get naked in Frida

Sаlmа Hаyеk has had to spend 8 years convincing someone to let her take her clothes off in a movie. Can you believe it?

Salma is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous ladies on the planet, with breasts that practically beg to be out in the sun, yet since her career began noone has bothered to create a movie in which she could feel comfortable getting naked. Thus she has had to do it herself. Salma has spearheaded a film about mexican artist Frіdа Kаhlо, and in it we finally get to see her nude. This is quite an event for we lovers of beauty, since Salma has yet to pose even topless.

Unfortunately, such scenarios are far too rare. There are way too few good movies being made in which we see stunningly beautiful women naked. I'm serious. It reminds me of the topless marches in which hundreds of young women remove their tops and parade along public thoroughfares, only to attract a bunch of lecherous youths openly drooling for the cameras. If only these guys would control themselves, women would not be so leary of public nudity and toplessness would doubtless be an everyday occurrence, if not the norm (at least in the summer months).

The same thing is true of films. If only men would write decent parts for beautiful women we'd eventually get to admire the glorious bodies of most good actresses out there. Instead, the creators of films insist on forcing these women into shallower and shallower roles, thus eroding the standards of beauty in most nude scenes to the point where they are not worth watching.

Why is this happening? Simple. It's because the world still believes nudity is immoral, and that beauty is unimportant and shallow.

Unless we realize that beauty is one of the most moving and important experiences we enjoy, and that nudity is simple a way to maximize beauty, noone will take it seriously enough to write into movies, and beautiful women will remain ashamed of their good looks. In other words, unless we learn to value beauty, we will lose it. The proof in the pudding is the fact that in the movie that will premier her nude body, Salma has decided to imitate the hideous appearance of Frida, unibrow and all.

Buffy in the Buff

Lоvеly Krіsty Swanson, the original Buffy the Vаmpіrе Slаyеr has posed nude in the November issue of Playboy.

Perfection is not something a beautiful woman is ever supposed to actually achieve, but whenever I hear someone say a woman is perfect I always think of Kristy. She truly is a perfect beauty. And she's one actress I never expected to see in Playboy because of it. She's also one of the few actresses I never thought would have to. But it seems Hollywood has not been interested in perfect beauty for some time.

A Satyr and his Nymphs

I once had a model with whom I had a very unusual relationship. She was very quiet, yet unusually honest, and unafraid within herself. I admired her beauty of course, but I also deeply admired her self-assurance. Over the period of a couple weeks, we had several meetings of an entirely non-sexual nature in preparation for a photoshoot. As one of these meetings came to a close, she asked if I would mind stepping out of the room while she changed. She was planning to go out that night. I told her I'd honestly rather stay and watch her get undressed. Without batting an eye she said simply, okay, and without a trace of self-consciousness proceeded to strip naked and then casually dressed herself for her night out. I was thrilled, with my own honesty with her, with her unquestioning trust in my character, and with the rewarding sight of her remarkable beauty.

It never occurred to me at the time that the right man could make a career of exactly this kind of unusually rare intimacy between a man and a woman who are not lovers. Internationally renowned photographer Pеttеr Hеgrе is that man.

One of the most surprising discoveries we've made at Body in Mind is the fact that female beauty is not a product of nature, but of Man.

I'm not talking about purely physical attributes here, I'm talking about Beauty, blow-you-away, can't-look-away, better-watch-where-you're-walking kind of beauty - the kind that attracts you from accross the room or haunts you across years. His gorgeous images of breathtaking color and lovely, spirited ladies, create a rare but inspiring sense of purpose in beautiful women, in their beauty, and in our enjoyment of them. By making an extra effort to improve and build upon the beauty of his models, Vitolins is teaching us that female beauty is important in and of itself, important to strive for, to create, to admire, to revere, to incorporate into our lives. And the beauty of his images, perceivable only by those who think, is a most welcome reward for doing so.
