Deirdre frolicking happily in the colours of autumn makes us wonder about the people who prefer black & white photos over colour ones, or simple nudes over super nudes. They are the same people who claim nothing in life is black & white. They've been taught such contradictory nonsense all their lives by schools, their parents, and their cultures that they've given up on thinking altogether. "Why think if it only gets you into trouble?" they say. But to conclude that the world doesn't make sense just because you've stopped trying to understand it borders on mental illness. Black and white photography and simple nudes appeal to such people because they attempt to eliminate the big confusing world. Black and white photos and simple nudes reduce the elements in a photo, while a colour photo or super nude allows the whole world in, in all its riotous complexity. The black and white photographer is a technician concerned only with how to shoot something. But a colour photographer is an artist, concerned primarily with what to shoot. We at Body in Mind have not given up on thinking, creativity, or the world in full living color.
