Hospital refuses money from sale of Cаrlа Brυnі photo
April 14, 2008 - What's more important - helping care for sick children, or keeping the tradition of hating female beauty alive? Apparently a hospital in Cambodia thinks it's the latter.
Recently, this nude photo of former model Cаrlа Brunі - who is now married to the president of France - was sold at auction for $91 000. The money was offered to Kаnthа Bоphа Chіldrеn's Hоspіtаl Association in Cambodia, but the doctor who runs the hospital turned it down.
"Accepting money obtained from exploitation of the female body would be perceived as an insult" Dr. Bеat Rіchnеr said. "The idea behind this gift was to get publicity for the auction and the photographer. It was a way of using us."
The photographer, Mіchеl Cоmtе, has only agreed to sell the one image of her, and asked that proceeds be given to charity. The money will instead go to a Swiss charity working on clean drinking water solutions.
