15 Afghani women attacked with acid for going to school
November 14, 2008 - A group of men on motorcycles squirted acid from water bottles onto three groups of female students and teachers walking to school in Kаndаhаr Wеdnеsdаy. Some escaped with only burns to their uniforms, but others will have permanently scarred faces, and one teenager remains hospitalized, unable to open her eyes.
One of the teachers reported being threatened by a man the day before, who said "Oh, you are putting on makeup and going to school. Okay, we will see you."
Three men have been arrested, but the school's 1500 girls have stopped attending.
