Wеst Vіrgіnіа lawmaker wants to ban sales of Barbie
March 4, 2009 - Democratic delegate Jеff Eldrіdgе has introduced a bill to ban the sale of Barbie dolls in the state of West Vіrgіniа. He says that toys like Barbie "place too much importance on beauty and have an unhealthy influence on girls which could affect their intellectual and emotional development."
Eldridge told local news that he 'just hates the image that we give to our kids that if you're beautiful, you're beautiful and you don't have to be smart".
He knows the bill has little chance of being passed. It seems like he just wants an audience for his hatred of beauty.
